Texas Military Forces Environmental Compliance GIS Data Collection

From 2008 to the present, the Adjutant General's Office has awarded EComm three Geographic Information System (GIS) data collection contracts to document potentially environment-impacting items at 80 Texas Military Forces (TXMF) (Texas Army National Guard) facilities across Texas. Data gathered include the location, description, and evaluation of items such as oil-spill containment racks, oil/water separators, hazardous material storage locations, and above ground fuel tanks, to name just a few.

Fieldwork is performed at TXMF Armories, Field Maintenance Shops (FMS), and Army Aviation Support Facilities (AASF) by EComm technicians using state-of-the-art submeter Trimble Global Positioning System (GPS) units. Once gathered, the data is post-processed for enhanced accuracy and projected in ESRI's ArcView. Detailed plan maps of each installation and the gathered data are presented while basic locations are depicted on the most recent available one-meter resolution or better aerial photography and USGS 1:24000 topographic maps.

This ongoing project is an example of the multi-faceted capabilities of Ecological Communications Corporation's team of professionals.
